Alt text allows the search engines to see what’s in an image. When you hover over an image with alt text a white box appears describing what the image is.

a.       Make sure the description you write is accurately describing the image.

If your images have alt text on them and someone clicks on your image from the search engines, they will land in your website on the page where that image has alt text on it. This is a great way to include a keyword phrase within the alt text if it actually relates to the image.
