1.       You will see how many people are coming to your site, how many pages they are accessing, and the average pages per visit. You can go deeper into these results to see what pages they are accessing and figure out who your target audience may be by selecting any of the blue links at the bottom of the page.

2.       Pay attention to the bounce rate for your site. Bounce rate is best explained as how many people are going to your site and leaving right away. You want to try and get this down to under 50%. Having a high bounce rate means there could be several things contributing to that:

<img class=”alignnone size-full wp-image-393″ alt=”Statistics-img3″ src=”http://dstrainingacct1com.ipage.com/wp-training/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Statistics-img31.jpg” width=”435″ height=”181″ />

–        You are coming up in search engines under something non-relevant to your site

–        People are searching for a very specific product or service and it just so happens you don’t offer that product or service

–        Your site isn’t aesthetically pleasing to the person who came to it

–        Etc…

The search engines encourage those visiting a website page that may not be exactly what someone is looking for to go back to the search engines and click on the next link in the list that appears to be relevant for the site. We all do this and it’s normal so expect to have a bounce rate.

You can’t expect everyone that comes to your site to buy something or view all your pages or stay for a long time. However, if you bounce rate is close to 100% after 4 months of optimization it can be cause for concern. However, it is normal to have a bounce rate as the search engines encourage people to go back to the search engines to see another result even if the one they landed on may be what they were looking for.

To navigate further into the website statistics use the navigation buttons on the left hand side. These drop down to reveal more information.

Current rank in portal = 5

We know that the site has to at least rank on page 1 of the search engines so we are going to do some very simple math.

The number in front of 5 is 0 because there isn’t a number there and the site has to rank at least on one page. So because of this we will always add 1 to whatever number is in front to get the page the site is ranking on for the keyword phrase.

0 – 5
<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>+1</span>

1 – 5

So <a href=”http://www.giftsandblessings.com” target=”_blank”>www.giftsandblessings.com</a> is ranking on the 1st page the 5th one down on that page at the moment in time when we took this screen shot for the keyword phrase “dragon figurines” on the search engine Google.

By selecting any of the keyword phrases we optimized your site for you can see how it has been ranking day by day. If you see 100+ it means that particular keyword phrase was or is not ranking in the first 10 pages of results in that particular search engine. If you remove your keyword phrases or adversely affect the optimization we have completed on your website it will affect how you rank for these keyword phrases listed in  your portal.

<b>Organic Keyword Detail</b>

You can also check to see what the top keywords people are using in the search engines to enter into your website. Even though we only optimized around 3 keywords, search engines can potentially pick up 100’s of keyword ideas from the sentences on your website. The nice thing about this is that you can potentially get keyword ideas you haven’t thought of. If a certain keyword is pulling a lot of traffic for you, then it would be a good idea to add more content to your site relevant to that specific keyword or phrase.

The only way you can add words to this is by having the text naturally in sentences on your website that the search engines can index and send people to your site for.
